Felix Brümmer: Building Supersymmetric Models for the LHC

Low-energy supersymmetry is one of the best-motivated new physics scenarios for the LHC. In these lectures I will describe some tools for building potentially realistic SUSY models which allow to calculate soft SUSY breaking terms from first principles. After starting quite generally, the focus will eventually be on dynamical SUSY breaking and modern approaches to gauge mediation.

Ingo Runkel: Two-dimensional conformal field theory – introduction & applications

In this series of three lectures I will give a brief introduction to conformal field theory in two dimensions, including some applications and the methods used to get there. Conformal field theories arise for example in the description of critical lattice models or as UV/IR renormalisation group fixed points. In two dimensions they feature an infinite symmetry algebra, the Virasoro algebra. From its representation theory one can extract a lot of information about the theory, such as differential equations for correlators and constraints on the field content and the short distance expansion of fields. I will illustrate this in some simple examples.
